I love the image of the vertical path because it suggests that awakening isn't primarily about escaping the world, but about relating to it from a different depth. The horizontal path accumulates experiences; the vertical path transforms the one who is having them. Perhaps both are necessary, but without the vertical, the horizontal eventually begins repeating itself. Beautiful reflection. 🤍

Buddhism is knowledge that comes from practice. It is knowledge obtained from practice. Wisdom cannot be gained by thinking. It can only be gained by practice. If one practices the wrong practice, one cannot see the truth. Only the practice rooted in Sīla, Samādhi, and Paññā is the right practice.
